Heartburn is a nasty burning sensation in the throat or chest which occurs often after eating and when lying down. It can be painful or just uncomfortable and may be caused by reflux where the acid from the stomach comes back to esophagos . This can have serious effects on the body if it continues in the long time without being treated. fatty foods, chocolate, onions, tomatoes, garlic, black pepper, coffee, citrus, fizzy drinks, alcohol can all cause problems as can lying down too soon after eating. Stress can also be a trigger. Although not proven in clinical trials, many people use aloe vera juice to soothe the irritation. It is taken before a meal. Sometimes slippery elm is used to help heart burn, although it has not been tested for this use as it is more commonly used to relieve sore throats. Marshmallow is often used for the same reason usually in a tea but as with all herbal remedies a doctor should be consulted first as it can interfere with certain medications. Another herbal remedy for heart burn is Ginger. It has been used traditionally for dealing with many different gastrointestinal (stomach) problems. Ginger also has some anti-inflammatory as well as anti-nausea properties. Both these actions of ginger give relief to heartburn sufferers. There is one other action that ginger is widely known for. Ginger is a very good herbal heartburn remedy as it aids in the proper digestion process by promoting spontaneous intestinal movement. Licorice (Glyrrhiza glabra) has been used for centuries in traditional herbal medicine to treat all kinds of digestive disorders, including heartburn, gastritis, stomach ulcers, and duodenal ulcers. In the 1950s, research showed that licorice-derived compounds can raise the concentration of prostaglandins in the digestive system that promote mucous secretion from the stomach, as well as produce new cells in the stomach lining. MENTHAZIN ® is formulated with a standardized amount of Glicirizin (in therapeutic dosage) in EBNEMASOUYEH pharmaceutical company. |
